1.      What are the salient features of the Chief Minister’s Solar Rooftop Capital Incentive Scheme?

Under this scheme, the Tamil Nadu Government provides a capital subsidy of Rs. 20,000 per kilowatt for grid-connected domestic solar PV systems in addition to the 30% subsidy scheme* of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) of the Government of India. For individual homes / flats, the solar system capacity shall be 1 kW. For the residential flats solar system capacity of 5 kW, 10 kW and multiples thereof can be applied for common usage as group application.

2.      Which solar PV system will be eligible for the Chief Minister’s Solar Rooftop Capital Incentive Scheme?

The Chief Minister’s Solar Rooftop Capital Incentive Scheme applies to grid-connected solar PV systems. This capital subsidy scheme is for the Grid-tie system only.

3.      How much electricity will a Solar PV system produce?

For every 1 KW installed, the typical solar PV system generation in Tamil Nadu is about 1,500 kWh (units) per annum. Actual energy generation depends on the efficiency of solar, tilt angle of the solar panel, weather, grid availability and cleanness of the solar panels.

4.      How do I select the Vendors?

Solar PV systems must be installed only by the qualified Solar Installers empanelled by the Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency through a tendering system under this scheme. The list can be accessed at www.teda.in/pdf/CIS_INSTALLERS.pdf

5.      What are the advantages of a grid connected solar system ?

·         A grid-connected photovoltaic power system will reduce the power bill due to the import and export of power through net metering provision. Illustration: someone imports (consumes) 1,000 kWh from the grid and exports 600 kWh to the grid in a billing cycle. The energy bill will be for 400 kWh (1000 kWh – 600 kWh) accounted by Netmeter.

·         Grid-connected PV systems do not require batteries. Batteries are costly require periodic maintenance and also lead to wastage of 15 – 20 % energy in storage and retrieval.

·         Grid-connected PV systemsare much easier to operate and maintain.

·         Segregation of load is not required.

6.      How & from where will I obtain the Application format ?

The application format may be downloaded from the weblink www.teda.in/CIS for two different categories as follows.

a.    Single Applicant of Individual house comes under category Individual  www.teda.in/pdf/CIS_Individual.pdf

b.     Combined Group of Flat owners comes under category Group www.teda.in/pdf/CIS_Group.pdf

7.      What is the eligible capacity of Solar Rooftop Photovoltaic Grid-Tie power plant under the scheme?

You may opt for any capacity out of 1 , 2 , 5 & 10 kWp, but subsidy will be limited to 1kWp per house / flat.

8.      How do I register?

Two ways of registration are possible. It can be done either Online or Offline as follows

Steps for Online Registration

Fill in the Application format (Individual / Group) from the following web link  www.teda.in/CIS

No registration fee

a.    Submit through online

Take a print of submitted copy, sign and submit the same to TEDA/Chennai through post or  in person immediately.

Steps for Offline Registration

a.    Download the Application format (Individual / Group) from the following web link www.teda.in/CIS

No registration fee

b.    Fill the downloaded Application format

c.    Sign and submit the same to TEDA/Chennai through post or  in person.

Note: Seniority will be as per online submission date.The order of priority for the offline registration will be considered only after the applications received through online of the same day when it reaches TEDA/Chennai office.

9.      How will I know that my application is being processed? Or What is the Sanction Procedure of TEDA in selection of applicants/beneficiaries?

a.    Applications received on offline will be entered online and their corresponding registration number will be communicated through SMS.

b.    Applications received will be scrutinized in tandem with TANGEDCO for the confirmation of Electricity Board’s tariff category

Based on the priority and correctness of applications, the sanctions will be communicated  to the registered applicants through email/SMS at the end of every week and the registered application numbers with corresponding sanction numbers will be displayed in the following web link www.teda.in/CIS/SanctionThe applicants can then check status, download workorder formats, sanction format etc., by giving their Registration number.

10.   How will I get the details of Installers?

The final list of empanelled Installers with contact details is displayed in the TEDA’s website in the following web link www.teda.in/pdf/CIS_INSTALLERS.pdf  This list will be intimated to the sanctioned beneficiaries through email also.

The applicant will have to enter into an agreement with the supplier/installer for payment of cost after deduction of subsidy.
