Yes , India got the political freedom in 1947 from the British after two centuries of her rule. Today at least half of her populace i.e around 630 million of her are enjoying the fruits of the hard labour. But for the remaining half the freedom from poverty, freedom from social evils and so on remain an elusive dream. Very recently the elite of the most fortunate commented on the poverty of her own people by saying ' one can have a full square meal for 5 rupees' and another great ' even in one rupee'... First time the citizens were mocked by the elite and reminded us of the French history, " Let them eat cake if they don't have bread'.
Corruption reached an unprecedented level. The most democratic land and her people were at the verge of an Arabian Spring on Indian soil. A former bureaucrat turned overnight into a savior and the party he founded captured the power in Delhi state, although the experiment was short lived. The AAP gave new hope and the nation went into churning. Here came Mr.Narendra Modi, the Chief minister of Gujarat with the development mantra. The voters are divided into various linguistic, ethnic, caste, class, social and religious groups. The media in India tried their level best to sow dissensions and are doing so even after the elections. Now they are busily analyzing which community voted to which party and why. Since divide and ruin is their mantra relentlessly they are pursuing their divisive agenda. But Mr.Modi neglected these traditional techniques of Indian media and has given a new idea for India. He knows that if we trust media there will be no India.
The people who mocked at his poverty and poor background are grounded and the 'Modi plan' is taking off. The India has got her Lee Kuan Yew and the Abraham Lincoln. Just as Lincoln replied to the insinuations of his colleague fittingly, Mr.Modi too used the very same taunt to his victory.
See the Similarities....
"On the first day, as President, Abraham Lincoln entered to give his
inaugural address, just in the middle, one man stood up. He was a rich
aristocrat.
He said, "Mr. Lincoln, you should not forget that your father used to make
shoes for my family". And the whole senate laughed; they thought they had
made a fool of Abraham Lincoln.
But Lincoln - and that type of people are made of a totally different
mettle. Lincoln looked at the man and said, "Sir I know that my father
used to make shoes in your house for your family, and there will be many
other here... because the way he made shoes; nobody else can. He was a
creator. His shoes were not just shoes, he poured his whole soul in it. I
want to ask you, have you any complaint? Because I know how to make shoes
myself; if you have any complaint I can make another pair of shoes. But as
far as I know, nobody has ever complained about my father's shoes. He was
genius, a great creator and I am proud of my father".
The whole Senate was struck dumb. They could not understand what kind of a
man Abraham Lincoln was. He had made the 'Shoe Making', an art, a
creativity. And he was proud because his father did the job so well that
not even a single complaint had ever been heard."
"New Delhi: Congress leader Manishankar Aiyar today mocked Narendra Modi's Prime Ministerial ambitions and said a place will be identified for the Gujarat Chief Minister to distribute tea here.
"I promise you in 21st Century Narendra Modi will never become the Prime Minister of the country. ...But if he wants to distribute tea here, we will find a place for him," Aiyar said at the venue of the AICC meeting here."
Today a new hope has arisen midst gloom and despair. Since he has proved a little bit in his home state, the youth expect him to perform. But no nation can be built by a single person. Let us all put forward a single step, extend our hand for a link to realize the dream of India.
Yes we can and we will.
