The Political Freedom which we got after centuries of struggle and sacrifice in 1947 is in peril today. This time the oppressors are not from any foreign land but from our own land-namely, selfishness, narrow mindedness, regionalism, lack of foresight and hunger for money and power.
The latest victim to these hungry wolves mentioned above is the Southern state of Andhrapradesh. After the States Re-organisation of 1956 based on linguistics, it was thought the demand for newer states may come down. Instead more and more demands keep arising from different regions citing economic backwardness or ethnicity or any other reason that suits them.
The consequences on such demands and the continuing agitations across the nation are deep and hurting the economy and the people in a massive way. Millions of workers who depend on daily wages have lost their livelihood and literally every part of the society is hit harsh. Hundreds of people have lost their lives in police firing and self-immolation. Leaders continue to whip up the emotions to serve their self interest and they are ably assisted by a divisive media which don't have faith in the idea of India.
The State of Andhrapradesh, known for its ancient culture and agriculture is in the hands of vultures and people undergo untold tortures for years now. The common man can't be blamed for this fiasco.

If we 'twenty eight' (number of states in the Indian Union ) can't survive together- even if we become 280 we won't be happy. Politics without any ethics has killed this nation. Survival is possible when we forget the differences and strengthen the similarities. Let us learn all the good things from others. People may wonder what relevance is this article to 'go green', but for any programme the people have to be there! If violence becomes a norm where is the question of 'growth'?

‘Can we send them to America?’
“The Andhra rich send their children to America. We sent ours to Hyderabad. Where do we send them now?” That’s N. Rama Rao, a two-acre tenant farmer in Davajigudam village in Krishna district. “The jobs, the schools, the colleges, the hospitals — everything is in Hyderabad. If we lose that, we lose everything. Do you think we can send our kids to America?”
Rama Rao’s dilemma confronts lakhs of other families across coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema with members working or settled in Hyderabad. The possibility that many might have to return when Telangana State is formed frightens them. It’s an insecurity fanned by hostile words from leaders of the Telangana movement.
“What do they return to?” asks Sambasiva Rao, a small tenant farmer at Kesarapalli. “Most here are small tenant farmers in great difficulty. Farming is anyway in a mess. Divide the State, and there will be major conflicts over water.” And “what about the poorer ones?” asks Bappatla Veeraiah, back in Davajigudam. “Those whose children work there as painters, electricians, watchmen, security guards, canteen workers?”
Their concerns and fears are much the same as those expressed by the poor on the other side of the great divide: work and water. ‘Hyderabad’ itself is a proxy for jobs, income and security. Many poor families in Rayalaseema and coastal districts too have sent at least one member to seek a future in that city in the last 15 years.
“All our wealth is there,” is the refrain across the coastal districts and Rayalaseema. “Even Hi-Tech city is there,” says Sarat Chandra, an M. Tech student in Gannavaram. “Mr. Chandrababu Naidu [when he was Chief Minister] focused on developing that city.”
See the poison our press is pouring on the minds of the innocents! Every big hospital in Chennai is owned by the Telugus. Important leaders of all political parties are Telugus in T.N. The singers, actors and so on. Knowing well that the division is a mere revenue & administrative exercise the press wants to divide this nation and keep it boiling so that their rice pots can boil.
If the Andhra people can send their kids to America, can't they live together with the people in Hyderabad? Won't the caste, religion, language and culture which we are all very proud of help them stick together? If millions of Telugus can live in Tamilnadu and millions of Tamils can live in Delhi and Mumbai why our press divides the people on regional lines? Yes. They need money. Divide and ruin. This is their motto.
We all know the U.S. is with more geographical area and accommodates more nationalities and is able to be together with 50 states. If it is possible for a nation to provide shelter to people across the world , can't we accommodate our own people in our own land? How then we talk of 'tolerance' and 'peace' and preach the world. Why do we fail repeatedly? If agitations inside and outside our legislatures are going to be the 'fashion' how can the concept of 'nation' 'd survive? If we 'twenty eight' (number of states in the Indian Union ) can't survive together- even if we become 280 we won't be happy.
