Elections in India

Hundreds of employees and voters who are deputed for poll duties are losing their lives in India. Elections in India is a big festival. Leaders make spirited speeches and the media goes on highlighting the shows non-stop. As the festival is for around 3 months tension builds up. Voters  are terrified at the way the things are carried forward. In some areas Communists of Maoist ideology kill people mercilessly. We have to come out with easier options for electioneering and voting soon.  



Cardiac arrest
The polling station falls in Kudachi assembly constituency. Bashirsaab Maulasaab Jahiri (52) suffered a massive cardiac arrest inside the polling station between 8.30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and collapsed on the spot.
The deceased was a Group-D employee and serving as Secretary at Gram Panchayat in Gudas of Gokak taluk. He was a resident of Yadwad village of Gokak taluk.


A 39-year-old woman poll officer, deputed at a municipal school in Khopat here, died after a massive heart attack while on duty on Thursday. 

Police said Vaishali Bhale had reported for duty early in the morning, and at 12.30 pm, as she was supervising the poll process, she fell unconscious and had to be taken to the Thane civil hospital. 

Bhale resides at the Friends cooperative housing society, Koparkhairane, along with her mother, brother and sister-in-law. Family members said Bhale was not keeping well for two days and had complained of chest pain. Family members had urged he to skip the poll duty, but she feared her absence would invite legal action. 

In another incident, constable Kashinath Mahale (43) from Rabodi was taken to the civil hospital after an epilepsy attack at 1 pm. Mahale collapsed when accompanying a zonal official at a booth in Kolshet. He is under observation at a private hospital in Kalwa.

Eight died following heart attack

Nine persons, including three election officials, died in various parts of the State on the day of polling for the Lok Sabha elections on Thursday. Of them, eight died following heart attack, and the other was killed in a road accident.
A 52-year-old polling officer, Bashirsaab Maulasaab Jahiri in Raibag taluk of Belgaum district, died after he suffered a massive cardiac arrest inside the polling station.
On duty
In another incident, 55-year-old Mr. Gangaiah, who had reported for duty at a polling station in Turuvekere town of Tumkur district on Wednesday night, complained of chest pain around 2 a.m. on Thursday.
He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Incidentally, both Mr. Jahiri and Mr. Gangaiah were village panchayat employees deputed for poll duty.
There was another death in Tumkur district. Sixty-five-year-old Sundara Bai, died due to heart attack soon after casting her vote at a polling station at Attikatte in Gubbi taluk.
A sixty five-year-old voter, Nanjundappa, suffered a heart attack after he exercised his franchise at a polling station at Kengeri. He died on the way to the hospital.
Seventy-year-old Gangamma suffered a heart attack while emerging out of a polling station at Moodshedde in Dakshina Kannada district and died while being taken to hospital.
In Yadgir
In Yadgir district, 50-year-old Manappa Bavi died of heart attack soon after voting at a booth in Surpur taluk.
In Chamarajanagar district, 60-year-old Chandramma collapsed after exercising her franchise at a polling booth at Ramasamudra and died immediately.
In Mysore, 63-year-old Nanjamma died on returning home after casting her vote.

RAIPUR: Maoist rebels killed 14 people in two poll-related blasts on Saturday in an insurgency-hit region of central India, police said, highlighting the security challenges faced in staging the nation’s marathon general elections.
