Petrol Controls Us. Can't we Curtail It's Use?

From Petroleum we get around 6000 by products. My question is can we get gasoline from these by-products? Most of these items travel from shops to homes and return to garbage collection centres. Many of them refuse to die a natural death. Can we kill them and get something out of it? Yes. We do recycling. But we have to explore the chances of getting diesel or petrol from these by-products.
